2 Day Open Khanacross
A Double Points Event!
incorporating
The DSMSA Xmas Party
Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th December 2009
@ The Reef & Rainforest Track, Mossman.

A Huge Success!

The Douglas Shire Motor Sports Association (DSMSA) celebrated a hugely successful 2009 season with a 2-Day Khanacross and Xmas Party combined.

22 drivers enjoyed exhilarating racing and with the 2009 Club Championship being decided, after Sunday’s competition,
there were on-track battles raging throughout the weekend.

With both days being run as separate events, for point’s purposes, there were a number of movements within various classes before the weekend was over!

Saturday’s event saw Bruce Perry take the win, closely followed by Tony “Foxy” Fox, with Bob Errey in 3rd.

Competitors, families and friends of the DSMSA all enjoyed a sumptuous feast on Saturday night at the track with bonfire banter enjoyed til late,
albeit with Sundays competition still to go so some restraint was shown.

Sunday had some new faces move up the field with Curly Hendry winning the day, Alex Scomazzon in 2nd, and Foxy slipping back to 3rd after a last run mishap.

The closeness of the racing was evident in the combined times for the 2 events, with 15 runs completed by all drivers,
showing only 2.5 seconds separating the top 3 drivers!
1st Combined was Bruce Perry in 1046.81secs, 2nd Curly Hendry in 1048.07, and 3rd Foxy in 1049.31secs.

Runner up, with still a very high 155 points, was Foxy and in 3rd place was Alex Scomazzon with 145 points.

The various classes had different winners for each with the final 09 results being:
Under 1600 Champion Bob Errey with 73 points, 1600-2lt Champion Monica Scomazzon 110 points, Over 2lt Champion Kevin Barnes 109 points,

The annual Presidents Encouragement Award was presented by DSMSA President Bob Errey to Stacie Stephensen.

The event and seasons end saw many tired people but happy smiling faces everywhere and the club is looking forward to an even bigger year in 2010,
and hopes to attract many more new drivers and will be running Junior Motorkhanas especially for 12 – 14 year olds
in addition to the usual Open Khanacrosses for all over 14 years old.
